The conference was a great success and helped to raise awareness of the importance of pediatric palliative care. We hope that this will lead to more resources being dedicated to the development and improvement of pediatric palliative care services and that more children and families will have access to the support they need during their most difficult times.
At The Bardo Foundation, we believe that every child deserves access to high-quality healthcare, including palliative care. We will continue to work with our partners to bring attention to this critical issue and to support the development of pediatric palliative care services.
The Bardo Foundation is proud to have partnered with Barnekreftforeningen, Dr. Anja Lee from Oslo University Hospital, and Dr. Justin Baker, MD from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in a recent conference to bring awareness to the importance of pediatric palliative care.
Palliative care is a specialized area of medicine that focuses on providing relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of serious illness. It aims to improve quality of life for both the patient and their family. While palliative care is often associated with end-of-life care, it can and should be provided at any stage of a serious illness and to people of all ages, including children.
Unfortunately, access to pediatric palliative care remains a challenge in many parts of the world. This is why it is crucial to bring attention to this issue and to educate healthcare professionals, families, and communities about the benefits of pediatric palliative care.
