Bernardo

Was a shining light in the lives of those around him.  His strength, positivity, and love for sports, particularly skiing, football and golf, was an inspiration to all who knew him.  But his bright future was cut short when a knee injury revealed a devastating diagnosis of osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer that occurs mainly in children and adolescents.

The ensuing 2 years were a harrowing journey, but through it all, Bernardo, known affectionately as "Bardo" to his Norwegian friends, remained resilient and determined to make the most of every moment.  His courage and positivity were nothing short of extraordinary, and he touched the lives of everyone around him with his unwavering spirit.

Bardo's love for life never faltered, even in the face of the toughest of circumstances.  He taught us all about the true meaning of friendship, courage, and how to live every day to its fullest.  In his final months, Bardo's vision was to start The Bardo Foundation, a charity founded and managed by his family to find a cure for osteosarcoma.

Sadly, only 4% of cancer research funds are allocated to child cancers, and the protocol to treat osteosarcoma hasn’t been improved in over 40 years, it is a tragedy that needs to change.  Bardo's memory lives on through the foundation that he wanted to create, and it's our duty to make sure that his legacy lives on.

He would have been the CEO of the foundation, if he had the chance to. Bardo's life may have been cut short, but his impact will be felt for generations to come.
