Team Bardo Runs Madrid Half Marathon for Osteosarcoma Support

Team Bardo Runs Madrid Half Marathon for Osteosarcoma Support

On 22 March 2026, the Bardo Running Club took to the streets of Madrid to run the Madrid Half Marathon.

Every single runner ran in memory of Bernardo and every child who has been affected by osteosarcoma.

What began as a way for his friends to process loss has grown into something powerful. A community that continues to show up, together, and turn that loss into action.

37 Runners. One Purpose.

This year, 37 runners proudly represented Team Bardo in Madrid, creating a striking sea of blue and red. The colours of the Bardo brand blended with the Norwegian flag, while yellow ribbons flowed from the runners’ hair, a powerful symbol of childhood cancer woven into every step.

The presence of Team Bardo extended beyond the runners themselves, as dozens of family and friends travelled to support them, lining the route with placards and cheering encouragement every step of the way.

This was not about individual achievement. It was about showing what can happen when people come together with purpose.

Together, the team raised over $9,000, which will go towards creating a dedicated training room for sarcoma patients at Oslo University Hospital to help support recovery, rehabilitation, and quality of life during and after treatment.

We could not have been more proud of the team and we know Bernardo was beside each one of them every step of the way smiling at what his friends are achieving.

More Than a Running Club

Team Bardo was created by Bernardo’s family and friends to create a space to talk, to support one another, and to turn an incredibly difficult experience into something positive. Each team member encourages one another to achieve their goals and the foundations leadership team supports them with our seasonal experience.

Today, it continues to grow into a wider community of family, friends, patients and their own families, and clinicians, all connected through sport, wellbeing, and a shared mission to make a difference.

Every run, every event, and every step forward contributes to that. You can be part of that journey by joining Team Bardo. It is not just about running. You can join in with a sponsored dog walk, baking competition, or gaming night with your friends. The possibilities are endless!
